Susan Willis Brodie

I am a self-taught painter and began painting after taking a 2D Design and color theory course at Indiana University. At the time I was a High School English teacher and mother of two young children. Learning about color theory opened my eyes to the possibilities of color and I decided to make painting my focus and profession. I had my first work exhibited a couple of years later in 2005. I returned to teaching English in 2013, and completed coursework (in ceramics) for my Visual Arts Teaching Certificate in 2016. I am a High School Visual Arts teacher at St. Anne's-Belfield School in Charlottesville, Virginia and exhibit my work locally and nationally through galleries, juried shows, open studio tours, Etsy, and Instagram. I am a Virginia Center for the Creative Arts Fellow, a member of the McGuffey Art Association, and I am represented by Annie Gould Gallery.
